The MES is a dedicated organization for evaluation practitioners and managers from all levels of government, the business community, and academia as well as individuals interested in or involved with evaluation. The idea of the MES was first mooted in 1996 by a small group of people who had a deep interest in evaluation and was officially registered in 1999. The MES is established to help promote and further enhance the knowledge, awareness, and activities of its members in all aspects of evaluation, both nationally and internationally.

The MES is the principal body and means for those individuals or organizations involved in evaluation to explore, discuss, develop, and promote all activities and efforts in the field of evaluation. It is also the main means of representing the evaluation practices and interests in Malaysia in regional and international evaluation-linked efforts.

It aims to help promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and resources related to all aspects of evaluation, whether in the private or public sectors. The MES will also plan and carry out various activities related to evaluation research, training, and development to help promote all evaluation activities in the country and outside.

The MES works in close cooperation with both local and international evaluation bodies to help further promote evaluation and its development nationally and internationally. Through these efforts, the MES hopes to promote such activities as Research & Development, publications, policy support, and performance management in the private and public sectors.
