3rd MES
International
Evaluation Conference

March - 4 April, 2008
The Malaysian
Evaluation Conference 2008, was held from 31 March -
4 April, 2008. More than 180 Malaysian and international
participants attended this Conference and post-conference
workshops.
The 2-day
conference, with the overall theme of "Evaluation under
a MfDR Environment" was highly relevant and timely
based on the various issues presented and debated. Some
of the issues raised by presenters were subject to much
discussion and this has helped highlight the importance
of such topics. Many of the issues presented were also
taken up in the 2-day post-conference workshops.
The special
"Impact Evaluation" and "Aid Effectiveness"
workshop on Day 5 was also well attended by representatives
from developing countries and donor agencies. This special
workshop was jointly organised by the MES and IDEAS
and was very useful in discussing various current issues
and challenges under the respective topics.
On behalf
of the MES, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank
all presenters and participants, especially from other
countries, for their active participation and contributions
to the conference and seminar deliberations. Please
look out for brief updates on this website on the conference
and Day 5 workshop deliberations and recommendations
over the next few weeks.
The MES will
try its best to make available as much of the materials
discussed at the Conference/Seminar for the benefit
of the international evaluation community who could
not make it to the Conference.
Please also
look out for more detailed discussions on the issues
raised at the Conference on Govteval and the African
and Asian Communities of Practice.
